The childhood delight of Amla Chat

Amla chat, who will not remember it? Firstly, it used to hit with a sour punch, scrunching your face like a lemon! But then, bam! The sweetness creeps in, making you want more. The tanginess of the amla is mixed with spices and sweetness creating an unforgettable savor.

Amla’s chat was more than just a snack; it was a traveling partner for outings with family and friends, a happy treat after school, and a special treat during any special occasions. The joy it brought while buying from a street vendor is immeasurable.

What’s more intriguing is how the after-effects of Amla Chat still linger in our minds. It is more like a taste that has imprinted itself from childhood till today, restoring nostalgic memory with a whiff and taste.

Earlier we used to get the aroma of chopped amla (gooseberry) ebbing through the house and indicated playtime. The entire process was when our elders chopped the amla with a citrusy aroma filling the ambience and making our mouths water.

As a popular Indian snack, it has multiple benefits apart from its tart and tangy taste

  • It is highly rich in vitamin C helps in improving the immune system and protects cells from damage
  • It is filled with antioxidants to fight any chronic diseases
  • Another good feature is that it helps with digestion and gives relief from constipation due to high fiber
  • Studies show that amla helps regulate blood sugar level
  • As a  low-calorie and nutritious snack, it helps satisfy a sweet tooth
